As a member of the clergy, I witnessed that the recent pandemic and the lockdowns it inspired isolated a large contingent of the world’s population in body and mind. Countless thousands or millions were physically confined to their homes, cut off from meaningful connections with immediate and extended family members, relatives, friends, work, church, and the camaraderie of recreational activities.
More importantly, the seclusion extended inward to the mind, trapping people the world over in a mental and emotional prison. Many simply developed walls around their minds—nothing in and nothing out. The result: depression, despair, distress, a sense of hopelessness, heartache, hardship, grief, misery, gloom, sadness, sorrow, and an unreliable mind.
